Welcome to the little hut at the edge of the forest, where stories large and small unfold daily...

Kristen believes there is magic everywhere. Enchanted by fairytales from a tender age, Kristen has always been an avid reader and creative imagineer. She stirs her love for fairytales and folklore into the cauldron of storytelling, often writing poems, sometimes writing larger works. She has two completed manuscripts for young people, with more stories spinning themselves from her head onto the page.

Feather Year, her Young Adult novel about a girl growing up in a cult, examining the fine line between religion, devotion, and delusion.

Her Middle Grade adventure novel, Soni & Professor P, is a Pied Piper re-telling that has Soni and her sidekick—a talking possum with anxiety issues—embarking upon a dangerous journey through New York City to save a Portal between Realms from an evil Lord, and herself from a not-so-nice ogre.

Kristen and her writing partner, Janine Pibal, are in process on a middle grade story, The Last Fairy, for which they were awarded a Collaborative Residency at Oregon State University’s Spring Creek Project. The Spring Creek Project is a convening organization that sponsors writers’ residencies, readings, lectures, conversations and symposia on issues and themes of critical important to the health of humans and nature. During the residency, Janine and Kristen worked on The Last Fairy, a novel that reflects the mission of the Spring Creek Project, which is to bring together the practical wisdom of the environmental sciences, the clarity of philosophical analysis, and the creative, expressive power of the written words to find new ways to understand and re-imagine our relation to the natural world.
